NEW AMAZON PHISHING EMAILS

Recently GDS has received a couple of emails from Amazon.com. Now being where I am, I don't deal with Amazon.com, so alarm bells rang and coupled with several other suspicious traits, it was clear these were PHISHING emails. Fortunately this was from a 'Junk' account I keep (for signing up to odd sites with something that looks interesting but requires subscription). The account needless to say attracts all sorts of rubbish, porn, viagra, loans etc.. I digress, the purpose of this item is to show the emails entitled
email 1 'Amazon.com - Your Cancellation (nn-nnn-nnn)'
AND
email 2 'Amazon.com - Your Cancellation (nn-nnn-nnn)'
Below is the response I received from Amazon on a chat line
You are now connected to Goutham from Amazon.com.

Title:Phishing emails

Me:Hi
Goutham:Hello, my name is Goutham. I'll be glad to help you today.
Me:I have received several emails supposedly from you with the title Order Cancelled Are you aware of this email
Goutham:The e-mail you received wasn't from Amazon.com.
We recommend that you delete the e-mail. For your protection, do not respond to it, and do not open any attachments or click any links it contains.
We also recommend running anti-virus or anti-malware software whenever you receive a suspicious e-mail, especially if you opened an attachment or visited a web site that was linked in the e-mail.
Me:I shall tell my clients and post it on my website Thank You for your help Goutham. So there you have it, DELETE THE EMAIL AND WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T CLICK ON THE NUMBER LINK (The Underlined 38-839-388 type number) OR YOU WILL BE SORRY

DRIVE BY INFECTIONS ON THE INCREASE?

Several customers have had internet pop-ups occuring after doing searches for business services. The type of infection looked like a 'drive by' after it was established that the customers had not specifically installed any software knowingly. One infection, was a RANSOMEWARE issue which locked the computer up, the others were nuisance pop-ups regarding trojans finding ficitious malware and asking for payment to remove it. GET A DECENT INTERNET SECURITY PACKAGE(Note one of the PCs was running MCAfee Internet Security as supplied by BT in their Option 2 package). Strongly suggest AVG Internet Security (INTERNET ARMOUR) which we can supply to anywhere in UK, US or Canada.
Email: AVG Internet Security Info for details

BOGUS ENQUIRIES VIA THE INTERNET

Recently, GDS received an enquiry for 10 laptop repairs. After a quotation and several emails later, a cheque arrived (without any accompanying letter etc - very strange). However it was banked and several days later it returned 'UNPAID'. Apparently the cheque was a counterfeit cheque. So beware that this is a possible issue with internet enquiries

Yahoo Account Internet Scam

If you receive an email from 'Yahoo' about your email account being closed down if you DONT click the link in the email

DO NOT CLICK THE LINK - JUST DELETE IT!

Apple iPhone 4S voice activation has a serious flaw

Using the NEW iPhone 4S seems to have a flaw in its programming as CNET's Elinor Mills reported. A password locked iPhone 4S allow her to use the call, email and text messaging services without knowing the password

Want to know that YOUR IDENTITY INFORMATION is NOT being TRADED ON THE INTERNET??!!!!

Trading information is HUGE business in the commercial, corporate and in the 'hackers' world. Well AVG have done it again! See the NEW AVG Premium Security product as it can check many areas where this data can be passed on.

HTC appear to have come unstuck

After a recent update to the Android phones in the HTC range, it has been found that
a security hole has been created which could allow the phone numbers and other data to be accessed.

Recently Microsoft Security software has identified Google Chrome as a Zbot variant!

The Microsoft software in question is the Microsoft Security Essentials.
Google's Chrome browser which appears to be the most secure browser on the internet, has been
released as a new version, following the revelation that it (Google Chrome) was being identified as a nasty Win32/Zbot by the Microsoft security software.
Now why would a rival internet security browser company want to identify (probably the chief) competitor's browser as an internet security threat? HMMMMMMMM. Want to know more?

Ads On Bing Are Serving Up Malware

A recent post by Ed Bott of ZDNet, has highlighted a threat to users of the Bing Search engine.
It appears that certain ads for well known free software are being served up by malware sites.
Google's Chrome and Mozilla's Firefox browers are two ads which have been used.
Others include, Adobe Flashplayer, Adobe Reader, Google Earth and Utorrent.
If you want these only download them from the official sites
and PLEASE type the site address into the address bar DONT USE LINKS.

An Email Scam To Watch Out For

Recently people have been infected by a new email nasty
It works like this, person A gets infected - how is not known presently
An email from Person A is sent out to the contacts in their contacts list
The email suggests there has been a problem whilst in some city
And could the recipient of the email wire them some money with a promise to pay it back

when they are out of the city. The money should be wired via Western Union or a stated bank
This type of email has been seen twice within a month
If you do get one, email the person who is supposed to have sent it to you
USING A NEW EMAIL - DO NOT USE REPLY to ask if they know about this
Do take care as email scammers are getting very cunning in what they send out

Skype users vulnerable to hijacking!

Skype is not being left out in the cold where vulnerability is concerned.
Though Skype is aware of this and has promised an update to block the hole

Android Mobile Devices are taking a HIT
Users of Android mobile devices are the target of a recent escalation of the ZeuS trojan.
This, as in September 2010 a similar move was made on the Symbian mobile systems. Clearly the rise in mobile phone
use for all things internet has been clearly noted by the criminal element of the internet.
The ZeuS trojan is designed to acquire bank information. See Out More Here
