Spyware and Virus Removal - Frequently people are amazed at what malware becomes installed on their computer. From simple tracking cookies, advert popups, rogue antivirus or antispyware programs, to more serious threats such as: chat or other bots, keyloggers, trojans, password stealers etc. Most people understand (due to the high profile in the media) about viruses, yet spyware is as dangerous or worse. These pests can cause a slow computer at best or allow someone to steal your data or turn your computer into a bot. When we deal with these nasties, sometimes it becomes necessary to 'rebuild the operating system as it is so badly infected. This will probably require the recovery of data stored on the computer. Once done (either by rebuild or just removal) and the system is deemed clean, antispyware and internet security is put on to keep the majority of nasties at bay.

Laptop Supply - Frequently we are asked to supply laptops (again a 50% deposit is required). Lenovo (formerly IBM) laptops are supplied unless the client has a preference for another brand. When these are delivered to the client, they get the laptop cleared of usually unwanted programs and a restore disk set (these are not supplied by the manufacturer) Most Lenovo laptops come supplied with microphone, video cam (useful for video messages and video chat), wireless network capability and a card reader.

ACTUALLY: Can we have a word about Computer Security
You will notice that viruses and spyware are mentioned several times above,
and generally the system has got an antivirus or other software present. Now we don't want to harp on about this but it is essential to keep your antivirus and antispyware programs upto date and that means the version type (i.e. norton antivirus 2007 may have been good enough for 2007 viruses - not so good for spyware in my opinion - but is relatively at a disadvantage with 2010 viruses). So keep your version and the database updates, upto date.
We have used AVGIS security for several years now (we do look at others occasionally for comparison) and being impressed with its ability, we became an authorised reseller in 2009. Even so, we recommend that in addition to an internet security suite, that you have at least one other antispyware package (preferably two) installed and kept upto date (Suggest SuperAntiSpyware -free for personal use-see 'Free Software'). Also install Spyware blaster (FREE for personal use - see 'Free Software') which is a passive antispyware program, again it needs be kept upto date and the protection applied.
Keeping these upto date is half the battle, once updated, if they do not auto scan (free ones -for personal use - tend not to) then do a full scan at least ONCE A WEEK AND a quick scan ONCE A WEEK (3-4 days apart). Any comments, advice or help required, please EMAIL
